There are many places you can go to find out more about diabetes.
Check out the section called Your Life (with Diabetes) on this Web site for useful information about how to handle diabetes in your day-to-day life. The Life with Diabetes section of the JDRF website lists other helpful sites.
Books are other helpful sources for finding out more. Here are some that JDRF recommends...
Don't forget about the people in your life who are there to educate you about keeping healthy with diabetes. You and your family can meet with a C.D.E. (Certified Diabetes Educator) -- a health care professional such as a nurse or dietician -- personally, or go to classes taught by a C.D.E. at a local hospital or clinic. To find a C.D.E., ask your health care team or visit http://www.aadenet.org/FindAnEduc/index.html.
Finally, you may want to talk to your parents about spending part of your summer at a diabetes camp. It's a great way to have fun and meet other kids while learning more about managing diabetes.
