A lot of the information you read or hear about diabetes is bad news, and kind of scary. So always remind yourself of the good news: There are a lot of people out there who can help.
Day-to-day, there are family members, friends, neighbors, teachers, camp counselors, and health care workers (for example, your doctors and nurses, and their assistants), who can answer your questions, listen to your concerns, and offer their support.
Not part of your daily life, but still on your side, are scientists and other researchers who are working hard to bring about a cure, and the many, many people, such as those at JDRF, helping to raise money to fund this research.
It also helps to realize that YOU can be part of that cure. By helping to raise money by participating in such activities as the Walk to Cure Diabetes, you can fight back against diabetes, and inspire others to fight back, too.
So remember the good news: You REALLY are not alone!
