What Do YOU Say?More Kids Say

Brendan, 6
"I am six years old and just found out I have diabetes. I am looking forward to trying the pump one day."

"JaXiGirL72"
"Two weeks after turning 17, getting my driver's license, and experiencing freedom, I went to the hospital and was diagnosed with type I diabetes, where my freedom came to a halt. With shots, I was on a regimented schedule. I went on the pump and I am sleeping late, eating pizza, and feel like I can hang out with my friends without being slaved to my diabetes. I was living a lifestyle that the shots had planned for me, with the pump, I can be me again!!"

Sarah, 14
I have been on the insulin pump for about 2 years now and I've had diabetes for 9 years. Before the pump my numbers were everywhere. Now that I have the pump my numbers are on track. I also like the pump because I can do more and when I go to a party and they have cake and ice cream I can actually have a piece.

Sabrina, 8
I have been using the pump about 8 months. I like it very much. I don't have to have shots any more. I can enjoy any foods I want and I have more freedom.

Paige, 14, West Virginia
My pump has made my life so much easier!!! Now I don't have to worry about my diabetes controlling my lifestyle, I control my diabetes!

Megan, 13, Iowa
I just got the pump I think three months ago. I have been in the hospital twice because of it. It does give you freedom of eating and just pushing buttons for insulin. It is not a CURE, though, and that is what we want. Don't let it trick you.

Cassidy 10, New York
I think the insulin pump is the best thing to have for your diabetes. It gives you more control and better food variety. I love it and wish all people with diabetes had it!

Leanne, 14, Missouri
I think the pump is the best way to treat diabetes. I have had a pump for about 3 years now and I wouldn't go a day without it. No one can ever take my pump away because it has let me live more of a normal life so that no one even thinks about the fact that I am diabetic. I can go to my friend's house and instead of drawing all this attention towards myself with shots I can simply press a few buttons and eat whatever I want!
